MOM WEEK: To Be or Not To Be …a SAHM

This is a guest post from LK, mother of 2, teacher, classic car enthusiast, karaoke superstar and gourmet chef.

And she is my wife.

I’ve tricked LK into thinking I’m funny and awesome for over 6 years and she’s definitely my better half. LK doesn’t blog (yet), but when I asked her to write for Mom Week she didn’t hesitate to support me. I love her so much.

To Be or Not To Be… a Stay-At-Home-Mom?

That is my question. And it stems a lot from moms who are already blessed with this roll. I’m not saying I’m not blessed, I have a wonderful family and a career I’ve worked hard to earn. However, knowing that other people get to spend more hours a day with my children then I do… is heartbreaking!

MOM WEEK: Sometimes Love Looks Like Snot

This is a guest post from Veronica Ibarra, a wife and mother of two, working as a freelance writer from home with her youngest running wild around her.

Veronica is armed with a BA in psychology, common sense, intuition, and ten years experience working with troubled teens. She’s hoping to raise her children and keep her sanity.

Sometimes Love Looks Like Snot

Seriously, that’s something no one ever really mentioned to me before I had kids. Well, there was that one chili scene in Mr. Mom with Michael Keaton, but I thought that was an exaggeration of grossness for the entertainment value. Plus, wasn’t Keaton playing a dad without a clue? Surely a mother would know how to anticipate, avoid and/or deal with anything in the least gross, most efficient manner possible, right?

MOM WEEK: Why God Created Moms

This is a guest post from Brina Harwood, mother of 4 kids under the age of 10 and blogger at My Life In Crowd Control. Brina doesn’t claim to be a grown up though because she’s more like the kid in charge when the teacher leaves the classroom.

Why God Created Moms

It being Mother’s Day, I found myself wondering why God created Moms. What occurred to me, in short, is Moms are the essence of God’s Spirit on the earth without the prerequisite of salvation.

Think about it, Mothers are the closest thing to experiencing a relationship with the Holy Spirit as man can get without first claiming Jesus as their Savior. Even Jesus speaks of two births, the first through our Mothers and the Second through the Spirit and that’s not where the similarities end.

MOM WEEK: The Monday Blues

This is a guest post from MommaM, a new mommy blogger and self-proclaimed “multitasking machine” who works outside the home. She also sleeps with one eye open so her kids better watch out.

The Monday Blues

Actually, I’d call them the Sunday Blues. Every Sunday evening I get this feeling of dread. Knowing that for the next five days I’ll be on a chaotic schedule where I only get to see my little angel for a few hours a day. I begin preparing myself emotionally for the inevitable feeling of guilt that every working mother struggles with – the balance between family and work.

Let’s Play Ball

The past few weeks I’ve really enjoyed watching I.M. play baseball. He’s throwing better, batting with more confidence and talking up his teammates on the field.

There is something nostalgic and bonding about throwing the ball around with my son. When he smacks the ball into the outfield his eyes light up. And when he lets loose and throws a zinger into my glove that makes me wince he smiles with pride.

Playing catch with I.M. reminds me of playing catch with my dad growing up. We didn’t talk a lot, but we didn’t have to. Just standing in the yard or hanging out at the park tossing the ball back and forth was enough. Like the ball sailing through the air and snapping into the mitt was our conversation.
